Asymptotic Structure of Diffusion Flames at High Pressure
نویسنده
چکیده
We analyze the structure of diffusion flames at high pressure in the limit of large activation energy for the particular configuration of a steady flame in counterflow. We consider the fluid to be near the thermodynamic critical point in which case the effective mass diffusivity is negligible, and Soret diffusion is the dominant mechanism for fuel mass transport. Temperature and species profiles, as well as flame temperature and location, are determined as a function of Damköhler number and Soret coefficient. Our analysis includes a description of extinction phenomenon.

متن کاملSoot formation and oxidation in oscillating methane-air diffusion flames at elevated pressure.
Comparisons with respect to the sooting tendency are made between stationary diffusion flames and diffusion flames with pulsations induced by oscillating fuel flow. Time-resolved measurements of the soot particle properties in the flames are obtained by combining Rayleigh-scattering, laser-induced incandescence, and extinction measurements into the RAYLIX method. Furthermore, flame luminosity a...
متن کاملPressure dependence of primary soot particle size determined using thermophoretic sampling in laminar methane-air diffusion flames
Optical techniques, such as the light extinction and scattering as well as the laser-induced incandescence and the spectral soot emission, have been used routinely to measure soot concentrations in atmospheric flames. Laser-induced incandescence and light scattering have been proven to measure the primary soot particle size as well in atmospheric flames; however, using these two techniques for ...

The objective of this work was to investigate the influence of preferential diffusion on flame structure and propagation of lean-premixed hydrogen-carbon monoxide syngas-air flame at elevated pressure using direct numerical simulation (DNS) and detailed chemistry. The physical problem investigated is lean-premixed H2/CO outwardly propagating turbulent spherical flame at constant pressure of 4ba...
متن کاملLaminar Smoke Points of Nonbuoyant Jet Diffusion Flames
The laminar smoke point properties of jet diffusion f lames-the luminous flame length, the residence time, and the fuel flow rate, at the onset of soot emission from the flames--have proven to be useful global measures of the soot properties of nonpremixed flames. These measures provide a means to rate several aspects of sooting properties: the relative tendency of various fuels to emit soot fr...
